Communications Officer – Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust
CNWL is looking for an exceptional Communications Officer to join its busy team. The successful postholder will work closely with the Communications Manager for Media and Campaigns and will deliver communications activities supporting internal and external stakeholders.
Job Overview
Provide comprehensive support to the communications team, produce content for publications, intranet, and public website, organise events, produce patient information, devise promotional campaigns, manage communication issues, and support media relations and the Press Office.
Main Responsibilities
* Support the Communications Manager and Head of Communications in producing effective communications campaigns.
* Act as point of contact for one of the Trust’s divisions.
* Produce patient information in plain English and key community languages.
* Support corporate communications strategy and departmental plans.
* Champion consistent use of the Trust logo and brand.
* Assist in organising events at different sites.
* Produce and lead the weekly staff bulletin.
* Write and update content for the Trust’s public website and intranet pages.
* Manage communication issues related to local and national initiatives and health‑promotion events.
* Engage in media relations: write press releases and respond to enquiries.
* Support the Press Office in liaising with local and national media.
* Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a communications field.
Desirable Qualifications
* Recognised communications/marketing or public relations qualification.
Essential Experience
* Experience working in a press, communications or marketing office.
* Experience writing and issuing press releases.
* Ability to handle media enquiries appropriately.
* Experience writing for newsletters, websites and intranet.
* Print production experience.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in the NHS.
* Experience in engagement/Patient and Public Involvement.
* Experience in a membership organisation.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Professional manner when working with all levels.
