Solution Architect (Public Sector / Government Programme)
SFIA Level: 5/6
Location: Telford (2 days per week initially, reducing to 2 days every 2 weeks once established)
Duration: 6 months
Rate: 625- 675 per day
Clearance: SC Eligible
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a large-scale public sector transformation programme. This role will play a key part in driving solution design and delivery across a complex application modernisation initiative.
You will take ownership of end-to-end solution architecture, working closely with delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and successfully transitioned into live service.
Key Responsibilities
* Own the solution design throughout the full delivery lifecycle
* Lead application modernisation initiatives within the wider programme
* Drive the development and documentation of high-quality solution designs
* Ensure all solutions align with architecture governance and best practices
* Collaborate with agile delivery teams and architects across all phases
* Act as the technical authority, working through design decisions and challenges
* Engage confidently with senior stakeholders (internal & external)
* Manage relationships with vendors and third-party providers
* Oversee technical problem resolution and ensure delivery aligns to agreed specifications
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Solution Architect within complex programmes
* Strong background in application modernisation and cloud migration
* Experience working with both legacy systems and modern cloud ecosystems
* Knowledge of technologies such as:
o AWS, Azure
o Kubernetes, HELM
o Java, JavaScript
o Oracle, MySQL
* Experience working in agile environments across full delivery lifecycles
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to act as a trusted advisor
* Experience working within public sector or regulated environments (desirable)
