We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Coach to join our vibrant school community, where sport is celebrated as a powerful tool for growth, inclusion, and character development.
This is a dynamic role for a passionate educator with expertise in teaching and coaching hockey, netball, rugby, cricket, and core physical education across a range of primary age groups and abilities.
The successful candidate will inspire pupils through engaging, inclusive lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, while fostering physical, social, and emotional development through sport. Beyond the classroom, you'll play a key role in leading school teams, officiating fixtures, and enriching our extra-curricular programme.
Reports to: The Head, the Director of Sport
Hours, Salary & Benefits:
Contract: Temporary (until February 2025, an extension may be available)
Hours: Part-time: 0.4 FTE (Monday and Wednesday) term time, plus two days pro rata to be worked in holiday club pa (days are flexible, to be agreed with the Holiday Club Manager).
Salary: £11,552 pa (plus overtime for away fixtures where hours extend beyond 3.30pm)

Job Description:
* To teach and coach hockey or netball or rugby and cricket, and core PE to pupils of varying ages and abilities.
* To plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the National Curriculum and school ethos.
* To support pupils' physical, social and emotional development through sport and PE.
* To lead and supervise teams on fixtures against other schools, officiate matches and assist with team selection
* To contribute to extra-curricular sports and enrichment activities, including fixtures
* To maintain high professional standards, being a positive role model for staff and pupils.
* To ensure the safety, inclusion and wellbeing of all pupils at all times.
* A full Paediatric First Aid qualification is desired but training can be provided
Person Specification:
* Coaching/teaching qualifications in various sports
* Willingness to undertake relevant training, including safeguarding and paediatric first aid.
* Experience of teaching PE and games to pupils of varying ages and abilities.
* Specialist knowledge and playing/coaching experience in either hockey, netball, rugby, or cricket.
* Experience of coaching, refereeing/umpiring, and team management.
* Ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging PE lessons.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Confidence in leading teams, officiating matches, and coordinating fixtures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents.
* Competence in maintaining high professional and behavioural standards.
* Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
* Enthusiastic and passionate about sport and physical education.
* Positive role model with a commitment to pupil welfare and inclusion.
* Team player with a collaborative approach.
* Flexible, resilient, and able to respond effectively to challenges.
* Full Paediatric First Aid qualification. (desirable)
* Experience of working in a school environment.

Located in the heart of Corsham, Wiltshire, the school is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian building constructed in 1776. Heywood Prep educates boys and girls from age 2 to 11.
