An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our new Bath & North East Somerset Drug and Alcohol service. This vibrant partnership delivers substance use treatment and recovery services across Bath & North East Somerset.
Our partnership draws upon experience delivering substance use services in Bath & North East Somerset and nationally, with specialist knowledge around diverse local communities and community insight from hyper‑localism. As the Clinical Lead Doctor, you will make a real difference to people experiencing difficulties from drug and alcohol use.
Turning Point offers the chance to work with many addiction specialists across the country, lending learning and support to this role.
Responsibilities
* Lead all aspects of clinical governance and quality assurance, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
* Lead service development and act as advisor on policy implementation.
* Champion research and innovation to develop new clinical guidance and service protocols.
* Collaborate with Turning Point colleagues nationally to optimise patient care.
* Provide clinical supervision and training to clinical colleagues, and teach students from all aspects of the MDT.
* Provide expert advice to other clinicians on diagnosis, assessment and care planning for complex cases.
* Accept referrals of people with the most severe or complex needs.
* Provide expert oversight of psychosocial support, introduce innovative interventions, undertake complex prescribing (e.g., injectable opioid substitution) where necessary.
* Offer liaison drug and alcohol services in acute medical and psychiatric settings, and provide expert advice to courts.
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders from coroners, courts, probation services, delivery networks, and others.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
We are currently recruiting for an Addiction Psychiatrist, GP Specialist or a suitably experienced Speciality Doctor to work as a Clinical Lead. The successful candidate will need to be accredited as specialist in substance use treatment and should either:
* Be listed on the GMCs Specialist Register as a psychiatrist with an endorsement in addiction, meeting the supervision and CPD requirements.
* Have training, experience and supervision equivalent to this, as certified by the GMC through an appropriate Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
* Be listed on the GMCs GP Register (or equivalent) and have appropriate training, qualifications and experience.
* Fulfil criteria of a speciality doctor in Addictions with suitable experience for this role.
