Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Operations Manager with a valid Transport Manager CPC to take ownership of our logistics and transport operation and help drive the business forward.
This is a senior, hands-on role combining commercial leadership with statutory responsibility. You’ll be the named Transport Manager on our Operator’s Licence, ensuring full DVSA compliance, while also leading operational performance, improving profitability, and delivering an outstanding service to our customers.

What You’ll Be DoingCommercial & Operational Leadership
* Lead and optimise day-to-day transport and logistics operations.
* Own budgets, P&L, KPIs, and performance reporting to drive efficiency and profitability.
* Identify and develop new commercial opportunities to grow revenue.
* Analyse operational data and turn insight into continuous improvement.
* Work closely with sales, customer service, and internal teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and service provider.
* Control costs across fleet operations, fuel, labour, and maintenance.
Transport Manager & Compliance (CPC)
* Act as the nominated Transport Manager on the Operator’s Licence.
* Ensure full compliance with DVSA requirements, Operator Licensing rules, tachograph legislation, and the Working Time Directive.
* Maintain fleet roadworthiness through robust maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect reporting.
* Oversee driver compliance including licence checks, CPC training, infringements, and standards of behaviour.
* Stay ahead of changes in transport legislation and adapt business practices accordingly.
* Prepare for and manage DVSA audits and any public inquiries.
* Maintain accurate records and liaise with the Traffic Commissioner and DVSA when required.
People Management
* Lead, motivate, and develop a team of drivers, planners, and operational staff.
* Set clear objectives, carry out regular performance reviews, and support development.
* Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance across the operation.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in a senior logistics, transport, or operations management role.
Valid Transport Manager CPC (National essential; International desirable).
Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and Operator Licence obligations.
Commercially minded, with experience managing budgets and negotiating contracts.
Confident leader with excellent communication and people-management skills.
Comfortable using TMS, fleet tracking systems, and Microsoft Office.
A calm, solutions-focused approach and the ability to perform under pressure.

Important Information
This position requires you to be formally named on the company’s Operator’s Licence and to dedicate sufficient time to meet all statutory responsibilities as a Transport Manager. Any changes affecting your ability or fitness to fulfil this role must be reported in line with transport legislation.
