Confidential Opportunity - Risk & Compliance Lawyer
Nottingham | Hybrid Working
An established and rapidly growing legal services group is seeking a talented legal professional to join its Professional Standards, Risk & Compliance team.
Backed by significant investment and with an ambitious growth strategy, the business has brought together a number of highly regarded regional law firms across the UK. Despite continued expansion, each firm retains its own identity and culture, while benefiting from shared infrastructure, innovation, and strategic support.
This is an excellent opportunity for either:
1. an experienced Risk & Compliance professional within the legal sector, or
2. a practising solicitor looking to transition into a specialist non-fee earning role.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team responsible for maintaining high professional standards, managing regulatory risk, and supporting best practice across the wider group.
The role will involve a varied workload including:
3. Advising on SRA Standards & Regulations, conflicts, confidentiality, and client care matters.
4. Supporting ethical decision-making across the business.
5. Providing guidance on AML issues including source of funds/source of wealth enquiries, high-risk clients, PEPs, and complex transactions.
6. Handling SARs and wider compliance queries.
7. Managing and responding to enquiries received via the Professional Standards inbox.
8. Assisting with internal audits, external audits, and quality assurance processes.
The ideal candidate will:
9. Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer, likely with 3+ years' PQE.
10. Have a solid understanding of SRA regulation, AML requirements, GDPR, and professional standards.
11. Possess excellent written communication and strong IT skills.
12. Demonstrate sound judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
13. Be comfortable handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Previous experience across every aspect of compliance is not essential, as training and support will be provided. The key requirement is a proactive mindset and the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
The position is based in central Nottingham and offers flexible hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home), alongside a competitive salary and benefits package reflective of experience.
