Overview
We are looking for a RHEL Virtualization Architect with deep expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and Telco Cloud environments. This role involves designing vendor‑neutral architecture, leading migration initiatives, and ensuring scalable, sustainable deployments.
The Role
As a RHEL Virtualization Architect, you will design and deliver vendor‑neutral architecture for Red Hat OpenShift within a Telco Cloud environment. You will define platform components, infrastructure topology, and integration patterns to support secure, scalable, and resilient deployments. Your key contributions will shape migration strategies, enable automation, and align with enterprise architecture and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide architecture and design consultancy to ensure seamless integration with external systems and automation frameworks.
- Lead migration planning from Tanzu to OpenShift, including dependency mapping, downtime planning, and rollback strategies.
- Support migration of non‑production clusters to OpenShift environments.
- Design and implement OpenShift lifecycle management processes, including patching, upgrades, monitoring, and alerting.
- Drive load balancer migration from AVI to MetalLB, including design, planning, and execution.
- Evaluate Container Network Interface (CNI) options and provide recommendations aligned to performance and scalability requirements.
- Support the design of network fabric and IP architecture for Red Hat and Wind River environments using Cisco and Arista technologies.
- Contribute to infrastructure services design, including load balancers, firewalls, DNS, NTP, AAA, and related components.
- Ensure infrastructure environments are optimised, scalable, and aligned with sustainability goals, including hardware efficiency.
- Deliver end‑to‑end design documentation, including blueprints, runbooks, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Oversee supplier deliverables to ensure compliance with architectural standards and design specifications.
- Support storage design and integration, including evaluation of CSI and solutions such as Pure Storage.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Tanzu platforms.
- Proven experience planning and executing platform migrations, particularly from Tanzu to OpenShift.
- Knowledge of platform lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, and monitoring.
- Strong expertise in data centre networking, including leaf‑spine architecture and IP fabric design using Cisco or Arista technologies.
- Experience with load balancing solutions such as AVI and MetalLB, as well as CNI and core network services.
- Ability to design scalable, resilient architectures within Telco Cloud or similar environments.
- Experience with system integration and automation‑driven deployments, including CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Knowledge of storage platforms and integration, including CSI and enterprise storage solutions.
- Ability to produce detailed architecture documentation, including blueprints and operational artefacts.
- Experience in vendor management, design governance, and ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
