Job Title
Ophthalmology Research Fellow
Contract Details
Start Date: as soon as possible
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 12 months
Purpose: Structured training and supervised clinical development.
Responsibilities
* Act as an investigator in ophthalmic clinical trials.
* Assist in prescreening patients for clinical trials.
* Participate in ongoing clinical trials, publishing research papers during the fellowship.
* Gain exposure to complex medical retinal conditions and become competent in medical retinal injections.
* Contribute to service delivery while receiving supervised clinical practice aligned to the specialty training curriculum.
Qualifications
* Hold MRCOphth or equivalent qualification.
* Must have full GMC registration.
* Minimum of 6 years of specialty training (for salary assessment).
* Relevant higher specialty exam (e.g., FRCP, FRCA, FRCS).
* A portfolio of evidence demonstrating progression criteria in line with the specialty curriculum.
Salary and Terms
Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills. Recipients will be paid at the nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular, with basic salary plus any additional remuneration for hours outlined in the doctors work schedule.
