About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a Category B remand prison based in Redditch, Worcestershire. The role supports a fast‑paced healthcare environment delivering care to males aged 21+, with a range of needs including substance misuse and long‑term conditions. In this role you will work closely with senior nurses to deliver reception care, including first‑night prescribing, discharge prescribing, urgent follow‑up for the duty doctor, and substance‑misuse prescribing.
Hours
* Mon : 08:30‑12:30 & 13:00‑17:30
* Wed/Thu/Fri : 17:30‑21:30
* Sat : 13:00‑17:00 or 14:00‑18:00
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £124,320 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

What You'll Be Doing
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop your knowledge in areas beyond typical practice settings.
* Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis and timely decisions regarding future management.
* Act as a specialist resource for the healthcare team, engaging in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
* MBChB or MBBS degree
* GMC register and GP Performers List membership
* Evidence of annual appraisal engagement
* Experience as a General Practitioner in community practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
