Director of Sales - Fixed Term Contract 12 Months | London – (Hybrid) | Competitive Salary + Benefits
About the Role
We’re looking for a Director of Sales to lead the turnaround and future growth of Moonpig Group’s third‑party revenue channels across e‑retail, physical retail and B2B.
Reporting to the Commercial Director for Experiences, this is a high‑impact leadership role with full P&L ownership.
As part of the Experiences Division leadership team, you’ll work across Buyagift (transitioning to “Buyagift by Moonpig”) and Red Letter Days.
Our owned channels are performing strongly, but third‑party channels need fresh energy, sharper execution and clear direction.
This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
P&L ownership and turnaround delivery
* Own the full P&L for third‑party channels, including sales, margin, profit and forecast accuracy
* Stabilise performance and deliver a clear, credible recovery plan with measurable milestones
* Take early, decisive trading actions to protect delivery against budget pressures
* Create clarity around performance drivers, strengthening commercial control and accountability
Trading rhythm and performance discipline
* Establish a strong weekly trading rhythm across all channels
* Focus performance conversations on what drives results and what needs to happen next
* Move the function from reporting to action, with clear ownership and follow‑throughSet clear targets by account and B2B channel, aligned to revenue, margin and growth goals
* Improve forecast accuracy through disciplined pipeline management
Channel strategy and execution
* Define the role of third‑party channels within the Experiences growth strategy
* Position Buyagift as a leading partner, using the Moonpig brand to expand reach and sales
* Identify and unlock new, under‑utilised channels to drive incremental growth
* Shape compelling propositions by channel, including boxed gifts, gift cards and digital products
* Balance growth with margin through smart pricing, promotions and cost control
* Build clear, commercially grounded growth plans for every channel
Commercial negotiations, account growth and new business development
* Lead senior negotiations to improve terms, visibility, funding and margin outcomes
* Drive new business across marketplaces, e‑commerce platforms and retail partners
* Build a strong pipeline of opportunities, with clear ownership and delivery milestones
* Reset expectations with partners and introduce structured, outcome‑focused planning
* Oversee key agency relationships, including Amazon marketplace performance
Operational excellence
* Re‑establish high standards across availability, stock performance, content and distribution
* Strengthen catalogue quality and retail execution across all channelsProtect margin through disciplined trading practices
* Remove blockers quickly by aligning teams and partners around solutions
* Set clear performance standards and SLAs across agencies and operational partners
Team reset and leadership
* Build a proactive, sales‑led culture focused on growth and long‑term partnerships
* Lead, coach and evolve a team of c.8 to match the ambition of the turnaround
* Create a culture of pace, clarity and ownership
* Raise the bar on commercial thinking, data use and execution
* Support and develop high‑potential talent while addressing performance where needed
Senior stakeholder engagement
* Share clear, insight‑led performance updates with senior stakeholders
* Communicate risks, trade‑offs and actions with confidence and clarity. Partner closely with leadership to align third‑party strategy with wider business goals
About You
* Strong experience owning P&L in sales or commercial channel environments, ideally in Retail channel leadership / Marketplace / e‑commerce or similar. Experience in FMCG or large‑scale retail environments is helpful but not essential
* Proven success managing and growing retail and e‑retail accounts at a senior level
* Experience driving trading cadence, margin performance and in‑year interventions
* Track record of leading teams through change, turnaround or performance reset
* Sharp commercial instinct with the ability to quickly identify what drives performance
* Confidence negotiating trading terms and managing margin dynamics
* Focus on outcomes over activity, with a bias for action
* Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, high‑accountability environments
* Experience in mid‑sized, high‑growth or PE‑backed businesses is a plus
* Decisive leadership style with strong ownership and accountability
* Clear, confident communicator – able to move between detail and big picture
* Comfortable challenging constructively to drive better outcomes
* Preference for simplicity, pace and clarity over unnecessary complexity
