About the Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee power engineering operations across Essex and surrounding areas, ensuring the highest levels of safety, equipment availability, and technical performance.
A typical day will involve:
* Leading engineering standards across multiple depots and supporting local workshop teams
* Driving a structured repair and maintenance programme for generators and clean-energy battery units
* Implementing reliability improvements, service schedules, and compliance processes
* Managing parts control, warranty recovery, and repair tracking processes
* Developing KPIs and performance dashboards to enhance operational excellence
* Leading investigations into asset failures and working with suppliers on technical resolutions
* Supporting apprenticeships, training, and technical upskilling across the fleet
* Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and statutory requirements
* Collaborating with regional teams to optimise resource allocation and customer support
This Engineering Manager position requires a strong mix of technical leadership, people management, and hands-on operational expertise within power generation.
About You
To succeed as an Engineering Manager, you will bring:
* Strong technical knowledge of generators and clean-energy battery systems
* Proven leadership experience within power generation, hire, or similar engineering environments
* Excellent people skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and influence teams
* A track record of managing multi-site engineering operations
* Strong analytical skills with confidence in data-driven decision-making
* IOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain)
* Full UK driving licence
* Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and deliver continuous improvement
