Job summaryUniversity College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a substantive consultant in Neurocritical Care, to the department of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical care at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The post is required to meet the planned increase in clinical activity this year as well as ensuring a consultant led service at all times. The job is primarily to cover Neurocritical Care but there is the option if the successful candidate wishes to have sessions within theatres covering Neuroanaesthesia if dual trained. CV required with applicationMain duties of the jobThe National Hospital provides tertiary level care in a wide spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical disease with a regional, national and international referral base. The hospital is co-located with the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square, London WC1. Both institutions share the common aim of promoting research and teaching in neuroscience and its allied disciplines.The department of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care comprises 25 consultants and 39 trainees. These posts support Neurological, Neurosurgical and Stroke patients within the Neurosciences Division of UCLH. The appointee will have both fixed sessions and work flexibly to cover consultant leave within Neurocritical Care as required. The department is also willing to accommodate further subspeciality interests such as Neuroanaesthesia and candidates are encouraged to discuss this prior to application and interview. All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving CCST/ CCT Critical Care at the time of interview.
