Join us as a Programme Manager (Net Zero North East England Partnership)
Our purpose is to champion the full potential of our region. Collaborating with our partners and local authorities, we’ll create a better way of life by connecting communities, giving people the skills to succeed, and improving wellbeing for all, so that the North East is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest.
The Net Zero North East England partnership is a collaboration between local government, business, education, the public sector, and civil society to drive a comprehensive North East approach to tackling the climate emergency. The partnership is co-chaired by the North East Green Energy Revolution Portfolio Leader and an industry leader. It is evidence-led and prioritises action across our most significant sectors.
We are looking for a Net Zero North East England Partnership manager to help deliver our key commitments – to create a cleaner, greener, and fairer North East. We have a huge opportunity to lead the way in delivering low carbon growth and responding to the climate challenge across the region. The role will shape, support, and drive forward this unique partnership to take us towards a decarbonised North East.
The Net Zero North East England Partnership manager will be instrumental in supporting the partnership board, working with the independent board and the North East CA to grow the partnership, secure partner commitment, develop our evidence base, tell the North East’s clean energy and sustainability story, and celebrate success.
As we enter the next phase of the partnership there is an exciting opportunity to shape the future, including developing and delivering partnership strategy, driving delivery, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the partnership.
You will have a demonstrable track-record of building strong, meaningful, and mutually beneficial partnerships. In addition, you will have strong commercial and organisational skills, and the ability to bring multiple projects and initiatives from concept to delivery. You will lead and convene, working closely with local authorities and regional stakeholders.
You will also display excellent communication, relationship, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage stakeholders, contractors and other partners across multiple projects and opportunities. Flexibility and an ability to balance a varied and diverse workload is essential. Experience of managing senior stakeholders, ideally in a Board environment would be beneficial.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage candidates who are underrepresented in senior roles, including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
If you have the skills and qualities to succeed in this role and are committed to delivering the combined authority’s vision and values, we look forward to hearing from you.
