Offer description

Location: Chances at Dawlish (with outreach across partner schools)

This post is fixed-term for 1 academic year (with the expectation of an extension)

Chances Educational Support Services is a vibrant alternative provision dedicated to early intervention for students facing challenges in mainstream education. We are an OFSTED registered ‘Good’ school with an impressive record of improving behaviour, attendance and successful reintegration back into mainstream settings.

Chances works across two models:
● Short-term placements where students remain on roll at their mainstream school
● Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) placements where students are on roll at Chances and receive bespoke support to rebuild engagement and attendance

Chances have consistently delivered excellent results. The staff are a mixture of quality teachers and highly trained youth workers, allowing us to focus on education, but also offer a holistic wrap-around approach to the care we provide. Students are at the heart of every decision we make, fostering enthusiasm, confidence, and a passion for learning. After time at our provision, with the support of our great teachers and skilled youth workers, most students reintegrate back into their mainstream school successfully.

Chances is part of DYS Space Ltd, and our core values are:
★ Resilience
★ Respect
★ Opportunity

● Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings
● Act as a consistent point of contact for SEND matters

● Track progress and impact of SEND provision
● Support reflective practice and continuous improvement

The successful candidate will maintain a strong awareness of safeguarding risks, complete all safeguarding training, follow school safeguarding policy and procedure, and work with external agencies as required to promote the safety and welfare of students.

There will be the potential for some teaching responsibilities alongside the role of SENCo.
