The Neurology Department at University Hospitals Sussex is undergoing an exciting period of development, following the relocation of the neuroscience departments to a new purpose-built centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and personable neurology consultant to work between the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and either the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath site, or the Worthing Hospital site. The postholder will undertake both general neurology and specialist epilepsy clinics.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
1. General neurology outpatient clinics
2. Epilepsy outpatient clinics
3. Epilepsy nurse specialist support
4. Epilepsy MDTs
5. Neuroradiology meeting
6. Supervision of junior doctors in relation to neurological care and participation in teaching and educational activity within the Trust as required
7. Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital Ward Referrals
8. Triage and Advice and Guidance
9. Sussex Neurology on-call rota (see below)
10. Consultant of the Week (see below
This work will be supported by a medical secretary and an appropriate office space and IT.
On Call Commitment:
Additional remuneration for On Call 1 in 10 (non-resident), Category B, 1%.

11. •Basic medical degree
12. •MRCP or equivalent qualification
13. •Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
14. •UK CCT in Neurology (or equivalent and in process of obtaining specialist registration via Portfolio Pathway)
15. •Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
