Band 6 Group People Services Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and confident individual to lead our People Advisory Service within Group People Services. This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave. You will be responsible for supervising, managing, and motivating team members daily to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration.

The People Advisory Service is the first point of contact for staff and managers across the Trust to seek prompt, accurate and consistent advice on all people related matters, including but not limited to the interpretation and appropriate application of Agenda for Change terms and conditions of employment, People policies and procedures with a key focus on embedding a 'Just Learning Culture' as well as early intervention and informal resolution of workplace disputes.

The post holder will be solutions focussed and passionate about coaching and supporting the team in dealing with cases which are difficult and sensitive. You will also be able to demonstrate an expert knowledge in the field of employee relations, showing evidence of keeping up to date with legislative changes and maintaining continuous professional development. You will be innovative, team-focussed, and values based in your practice.

This is a very busy operational role and the post-holder must be resilient and be able to deal with multiple conflicting demands and pressures, whilst continuing to support the team and managing own case load of complex people issues.


Main duties of the job

You will provide guidance and operational management to team members, setting clear individual and team goals, coordinate, prioritise, and delegate tasks to ensure team objectives and service levels are met, foster open and positive communication within the team and across departments, identify team strengths and weaknesses, providing coaching and development opportunities, proactively resolve conflicts and operational issues as they arise, monitor team performance and report on progress to management.

The primary base for this role will be at Queen Elizabeth Hospital; however, travel will be required across all the Trust sites including Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull. This post offers flexible working, with a requirement to be on site at least 60% of the working week.

Qualifications

* Graduate CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) or equivalent post graduate level training, knowledge and experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
* Leadership and Management qualification.


Experience

* Significant experience of recent generalist HR experience in a large, complex organisation.
* Experience of managing staff, including attendance, performance, annual appraisals, professional development and conduct management.
* Experience of consultation and working in partnership with Trade Unions.
* Experience of developing and delivering training interventions to staff and managers.
* Experience of up to date and thorough working knowledge of Employment Law and People Management best practice.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
* Knowledge or awareness of current relevant NHS policy context.
* Knowledge/ experience of Safeguarding Adults & Children.
* Knowledge of current NHS financial budget management.
* Good understanding of data protection/ confidentiality principles (related to personally and/or commercially sensitive information).
* Experience working in a healthcare environment.
