This role reports directly to the Regional Environmental, Health and Safety Leader EMEA.
This role is mostly based in Peterborough and covers all United Kingdom locations (Peterborough, Manchester, Wellingborough, Hereford, Runcorn). It focuses on developing, implementing, and continuously improving EHS programs to ensure compliance with local regulations. The role leads local teams to promote safety and environmental management, with a focus on accident prevention, continuous improvement in compliance, and effective risk and resource management. You will be the ambassador of our Hillenbrand EHS strategy.
Responsibilities
* Enhance and ensure compliance of the EHS management system across all UK sites, collaborating with local teams, regional, and corporate leadership.
* Monitor regulatory compliance, interact with regulatory agencies, and lead necessary actions to meet local and global standards.
* Set and track goals to improve safety culture, analyze incidents, and implement corrective actions.
* Provide technical leadership and support the development of a proactive safety culture at all sites.
* Drive standardization of EHS practices, share best practices, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
* Engage employees through safety committees, raise safety awareness, and foster a positive attitude towards incident prevention.
* Collaborate across functions to reduce risks, conduct EHS audits, and develop improvement plans.
Required Profile / Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma or Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering or equivalent
* Extensive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required, multi-site preferred
* Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies on environmental or safety compliance; strong knowledge of environmental, sustainability and health and safety regulations; experience with environmental permitting and hazardous waste management requirements
* Competent written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated leadership skills and influence without power
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
* A self-starter attitude with a passion for action
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
