Rolls‑Royce Switch into Aerospace Engineering Advanced Programme (Defence) - Bristol, UK
Our Higher (Level 4) and Degree (Level 6) apprenticeship roles are planned to go live on 1 December 2025, while our Advanced (Level 3) apprenticeship roles will start on 5 January 2026.
Durationally, the programme is typically 4–4.5 years with a competitive starting salary, and it is based in Bristol.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Train and gain experience as an Aerospace Fitter—assembling aircraft engines using a range of tools and technical instructions, ensuring components meet high standards.
* Train as a Machinist—precision work, making components from specialist materials on world‑class machinery and measuring to exact specifications.
How It Works
Year One
First few weeks, you’ll get to know Rolls‑Royce and your mentor. Weekly schedule:
* Four days a week at Filton site, developing practical skills toward Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations.
* One day a week studying for the Knowledge qualification (EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations), attending classes and developing digital skills.
* Two extended work placements on site in Bristol to gain insight into Year Two roles.
* If required, some days (07:45–09:15) at Weston College studying Maths and/or English.
Year Two
Aligned to an Aerospace Fitter or Machinist apprentice role, you’ll continue academic and practical skills at the training provider, combined with on‑site work at a Rolls‑Royce facility, meeting mentor weekly to discuss progress and personal development.
Year Three and Four
Four days a week on site in your role, learning on the job; one day a week at the training provider, studying academic qualifications for Level 3 apprenticeship.

Formal qualifications or current job title are not concerned; what matters most is real‑world work experience and a readiness to apply it in a new and meaningful way.
