This role will focus on the future development of technologies, complex systems, methods and tools including research and deployment of new knowledge into Jaguar Land Rover vehicles for the Vehicle Platform Accessories team.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Lead resolution of technical conflicts
* To coach team and provide technical support and leadership as and when required.
* Develop & deliver consistent and efficient accessory products to cost, weight and PSW targets.
* To provide specific technical expertise for projects, and input into the planning and deployment of specific new technologies, systems, tools
* Conduct research into new technologies, systems and methods and tools using industry specific tools
* Produce solutions for projects, and be able to apply technical subject matter expertise to new knowledge into Foundation knowledge and vehicle programs
* Provide technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes
* Support the development of features and designs for future vehicle solutions
* Support the specific development of new technologies or systems to colleagues supporting the assigned project
* Support the development of new features and system requirements
* Research concept ideas using complex modelling to work out whether new developments and innovations would work and be cost effective
* Keep up with current and developing engineering trends
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities
* Support other technical specialists and SMEs through knowledge sharing and mentoring approach
* Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices, industry movements and future trends
* Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
1. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Experience of defining and resolving engineering problems through JLR Quality tools & processes
* Experienced user of FMA tools and processes
* Working knowledge of TCDS, PCDS and Project and Change Management
* Experience & knowledge of CCDS
* Ability to define and develop strategies using benchmarking
* Experienced in systems engineering, requirement management, recording and planning
* Working knowledge of Standards Authoring & Bill of Design
* Ability to review and understand CAD through Digibuck, Catia V5 & V6, 3D Live.
* Experienced in Virtual Series Freeze and releasing process
* Working knowledge / practise of issue management process
* Has 2-4 years experience of electrical component & system delivery
* Experience in Standards authoring and Regulations and Legislation
* Experienced in design test planning, validation and reporting
* Experienced in component to system verification planning and delivery
* Knowledge of vehicle architecture strategy
* 2-4 years experience of GRADE process and EDS Harness design
* 2-4 years experience of electrical and electronic component delivery
* Previous experience of EMC and CAN Bus / Networking
* Systems engineering experience and knowledge
* Previous experience in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes
* Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools
* Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
Desirable:
* Demonstrates good understanding & knowledge of VP functional area (Electrical Accessories)
* Good understanding & knowledge of Electrical and the enablers required for Accy products
* Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders
* Experience of integrated vehicle electrical test systems and strategies and diagnostics
