Job Overview
A full-time 10PA Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery is required for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. The role focuses on oncoplastic breast surgery and may also involve planned surgery and outpatient clinics at Newark Hospital. The consultant will join an existing multi‑disciplinary team providing a comprehensive Breast Service to Central North Nottinghamshire, including residents of Mansfield, Ashfield and Newark Districts.
Key Responsibilities
* Provision of a comprehensive breast service to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment and department functioning.
* Participation in Consultant on‑call rota (out‑of‑hours responsibilities) where applicable.
* Covering for colleagues' annual leave and authorised absences.
* Managing and supervising junior medical staff, observing local employment and human resource policies.
* Leading teaching, examination and accreditation duties, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
* Participating in medical audit, Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and continuing professional development meetings.
* Performing managerial duties, including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate and compliance with standing orders and financial instructions.
* Other reasonable duties considered part of a consultant role.
Qualifications
Prospective applicants must have proven experience in oncoplastic breast surgery. Additional competencies include knowledge of local policies, procedures, and trust standing orders, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and quality patient care.
