Role Description
This is a key role in the Zoetis Strategic Sourcing function with a global remit and high level of visibility in the organization.
The principle purpose of the role is to continue to strengthen the organization's Indirect Sourcing expertise and lead a unified approach to sourcing needed products and services that deliver best value to the business.
The Indirect Procurement leader is responsible for developing the indirect strategic sourcing strategy and leading a team of dedicated Category Managers that cover a significant global spend (~$1bn) across a broad range of spend categories e.g. IT, Marketing, Professional Services, Fleet & Travel. Utilities, Facilities & indirect spend within our Manufacturing Sites.
Scope of the role includes: supplier market research, vendor selection, category strategy management, value analysis (price, quality, quantity, time...), negotiation, buying, risk mitigation, supplier relationship management & contract administration.
Purpose of the role is to achieve demonstrable and measurable improvements in Indirect sourcing, by reducing costs, improving efficiency and improving supplier performance.
Key responsibilities:
1. Oversee Zoetis Indirect Sourcing activities to deliver cost savings, supplier consolidation and improve supplier service
2. Developing & executing the overall Indirect Sourcing strategy for Zoetis in close collaboration with the functional stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met
3. Market research and analysis in order to develop expertise in core categories including product / service knowledge, industry dynamics and Market trends
4. Perform data analysis and utilize financial acumen to identify opportunities to leverage scale, and drive best value proposition /vendor selection for Zoetis
5. Develop expertise in contract requirements in order to negotiate the most favorable pricing and contract terms and conditions
6. Develop comprehensive risk mitigation plans to ensure uninterrupted supply of services and products
7. Implement rigorous supplier relationship management processes including leading period business reviews to monitor and manage supplier performance and value proposition KPI’s (cost quality service etc.)
8. Strong project and process management in order to execute global & regional sourcing strategy with cross functional teams
9. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and cross functional collaboration
10. Network both internally and externally to exchange learning’s and ensure best practices are adopted throughout the operations
11. Engage and retain a high performing team
12. Management of Indirects functional budget
Resources managed :
13. Direct responsibility for a team of 6 Category Strategy Managers / Procurement leads
14. Indirect sourcing operational budget
15. Sets targets and achieves cost savings through Strategic Sourcing management of approximately $1bn annual spend
16. Supports key stakeholders upto and including Executive level through the annual budgeting cycle in addressing the impact of their Indirect spend.
17. Global scope impacting across all functions
Education & Experience:
18. Bachelor’s Degree required
19. Minimum 10yrs progressive experience in business environment preferably Manufacturing organization
20. Deep and broad Indirect Strategic sourcing expertise
21. Significant experience of performing Strategic Sourcing roles from spend analysis to category strategy creation and procurement category management
22. Ability to work with management located in other countries and/or time zones
23. Demonstrable track record of achieving results in managing complex, cross-functional activities
