School Admissions Advisor - Fair Access


Position Details

* Type: Permanent
* Grade 3: £26,409 - £32,654 (Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review)
* Hours: 36.5 hours per week


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual to join Birmingham City Council’s School Admissions and Fair Access service. This team plays a crucial role in supporting access to education for thousands of children annually.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the school admissions process for all primary and secondary maintained schools and academies in Birmingham, following established policies and procedures. The focus will be on implementing Birmingham’s Fair Access Protocol.


Key Responsibilities

1. Attend and take minutes at meetings of the Local Authority’s City-Wide Fair Access Panels.
2. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating excellent written and oral skills.
3. Utilize ICT skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
4. Work collaboratively within a team and manage competing workload priorities.
5. Handle large volumes of work accurately, adhering to statutory deadlines.
6. Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children and promoting equality and diversity.


Additional Information

Interviews will be conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams. The team is based at the Council House Extension, with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
