Starrett makes the UK's best-selling hole saw. We have also just launched ranges in circular saw blades and oscillating multi-tool blades, and we are actively building market position in both. This role exists to own that growth across UK South.
You will manage sales and profitability targets for the territory, build and develop relationships with wholesalers and distributors, and deliver the UK distribution strategy on the ground. The UK Sales Manager will support you when needed, but the territory is yours to run. You will also have access to our weld centre in Nottingham, which opened in 2024 and includes office space and a product showcase area.
Behind the role is a business with serious backing. Starrett has been manufacturing cutting & measuring tools for over 140 years, with 5,000+ products across power tool accessories, hand tools, precision measurement, and metrology. The UK and European operation has been based in Jedburgh, Scotland, since 1958. You are joining a brand that professionals in the trade already know and trust.
What you will be doing
Sales and business development
– Own sales and profitability targets across the UK South
– Deliver the UK distribution strategy and build customer growth plans
– Lead commercial negotiations and trading frameworks, with support from the UK Sales Manager when needed
– Monitor competitor activity and market trends
Customer relationships
– Build strong, long-term working relationships with wholesalers and distributors through consistent journey planning
– Work closely with the Marketing team and the wider commercial function
– Manage order and delivery profiles in line with commercial objectives
Reporting and admin
– Produce monthly business intelligence reports for internal and customer use
– Manage your budget and expenses
– Keep documentation and reporting accurate across all commercial activities
What we are looking for
You have a solid track record of managing area sales and growing the number. You are probably working in manufacturing, engineering, a technical product category, or FMCG right now. You know how to build distributor and wholesaler relationships that actually move product, not ones that just look good on a call report. You can handle a commercial negotiation confidently and do not need someone alongside you to do it.
You are organised enough to run a territory largely on your own initiative, and you understand that consistent activity is what produces results over time.
A full UK driving licence is required. Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office is expected at this level.
Why Starrett
Starrett is not a brand that needs explaining to the people you will be calling on. It has 140 years behind it, global operations, and genuine credibility with professionals who buy and sell tools for a living. The UK business is investing in its product ranges and building distribution. If you want to own a territory at a brand with real market position and room to grow it, this is worth a conversation.
