G Crook & Sons Ltd
are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial HGV Fitter
to join our growing workshop team due to recent expansion.
We operate a large and diverse fleet including Volvo and Scania tippers, low loaders, road sweepers, and muck-away grab lorries
, as well as providing maintenance and repair services to a range of external commercial clients.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out repairs in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current legislation
Perform routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards
Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment
Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspections
Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with health & safety requirements
Complete all paperwork accurately and to a high standard
Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Communicate effectively with Transport and Workshop Managers
About You
Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles (HGVs)
and light commercial vehicles
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong understanding of health & safety practices
Experience using diagnostic tools
Desirable (but not essential):
HGV licence
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
(or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
