Background
Based within the Directorate of Marketing and External Relations and working closely with colleagues in academic schools and professional service teams, the Office for Global Engagement contributes to the development of an informed and coordinated approach to global engagement at City St George's. It also manages or contributes to a number of areas of global activity, including:
* The Study Abroad Programme.
* Global opportunities for City St George’s students, which includes management of the Turing Grant.
* Partnerships with international universities and pathway providers
* Externally funded student scholarships.
The Office for Engagement also undertakes work to increase understanding of global engagement within City St George’s and enhance the University’s global profile and reputation.
City St George’s partnerships with international universities contribute to both education and research, enhancing the quality, reach, impact and reputation of the University. Based within the Office for Global Engagement, the Global Partnerships Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic approach to international university partnerships with a particular focus on those partnerships that enrich the student experience, provide routes into City St George’s for international students and create opportunities to academic staff.
Responsibilities
The post holder will Manage City St George’s student exchange partnerships with international universities. They will build and maintain relationships with exchange partners; identifying new opportunities to broaden partnerships. They will lead on the internal process for developing new exchange agreements and renewing existing exchange agreements.
They will contribute to the evaluation and approval of new partnerships, undertaking due diligence and assessments of potential benefits and risks, working with colleagues to develop legal agreements as appropriate.
In addition, they will contribute to City St George’s broader approach to global engagement by developing approaches and mechanisms to support enhanced coordination and planning in relation to engagement with key countries.
Planning and implementation of strategies for effectively cultivating external relationships with stakeholders in key countries will be required, a key aspect of which will include supporting overseas delegation visits and inbound visits.
Person Specification
The role holder will be educated to Degree level or equivalent, or have equivalent experience, with significant knowledge of higher education in the global context, including international university partnerships.
Experience of successfully developing and managing international university partnerships, including undertaking due diligence and/or risk management will be required along with strong analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically; collating, analysing and interpreting data from a range of sources to support evidence-driven decision making.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required including the ability to write and present strategic reports, business proposals, and planning documents. Diplomacy and discretion are also required, along with excellent organisation skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
