Job Title: Software Asset Analyst
Salary: £34,500 – £44,850
Location: The Triangle Building, Cambridge (Hybrid, minimum 2 days per week in office)
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week (compressed hours available)
About the Role
As the Software Asset Analyst, you will play a vital role in managing our software estate, overseeing the entire lifecycle of software assets—from request, procurement, deployment, maintenance to retirement—and ensuring compliance with licensing terms. You will manage asset inventories, usage, and disposal, optimise total cost of ownership, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the entire lifecycle of software assets, from initial request through procurement, deployment, maintenance and retirement.
* Maintain an accurate, up‑to‑date inventory of software assets, licences, versions and usage.
* Ensure the organisation adheres to all software licensing terms and conditions.
* Identify opportunities to reduce software costs through licence optimisation, vendor negotiations and efficient resource allocation.
* Contribute to the development, implementation and improvement of software asset management policies and procedures.
About You
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for analysing complex data. Enjoy problem‑solving, confident communication and engagement with diverse teams. Background in IT or software management.
Qualifications and Experience
* 2+ years’ experience in a similar position or equivalent; knowledge of Tier 1 vendors preferable.
* Collaborative and effective team player who contributes to group projects and supports team goals across departments.
* Demonstrated ability to guide, motivate and inspire others, with delegation, decision‑making and conflict resolution skills.
* Proactive and resourceful approach to identifying issues, analysing situations and developing effective solutions.
* Strong organisational skills, prioritising multiple workstreams.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; articulate ideas, actively listen and build rapport.
