Compliance Officer – Export Controls | Legal / Electronic Systems | BAE Systems - 12 Month Contract - Inside IR35
We’re recruiting a Compliance Officer to support BAE Systems’ export control activities across multiple jurisdictions (UK, US, ITAR/EAR). This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise and become an SME in export compliance within a global business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a point of contact for export control advice and guidance across the business.
2. Support export control investigations, licence requests (UK/EAR/ITAR), audits, and corrective actions.
3. Lead or support process improvement initiatives and compliance checks.
4. Maintain and update written export control procedures, guidance, and work instructions.
5. Assist in the delivery of export control training to cross-functional teams.
6. Provide legal support under direction of Legal Counsel when required.
What We’re Looking For:
7. Knowledge of UK and/or US export controls (EAR, ITAR).
8. Strong attention to detail with meticulous record-keeping and compliance administration.
9. Excellent stakeholder communication and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
10. Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
11. Willingness to grow into an SME in Export Controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
12. Experience in export control, compliance, or legal support roles.
13. Exposure to audits, governance, or regulatory investigations preferred.
14. Understanding of policy, processes, and compliance frameworks.
Security Requirements:
15. Role subject to UK security vetting (Baseline Personnel Security Standard and SC Clearance)
