Main purpose
As a Practical Support Assistant, you will be representing our company, providing high-quality bespoke support to our clients.
Support worker
Supporting someone in the workplace who has a hearing and visual impairment while working on a research team at a national disability charity.
You would be supporting this client 3 days a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 09:00-17:00.
The role is hybrid, with one day of support a week being provided in-person at the clients' office in Loughborough, and the other two days being provided remotely. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to provide support in-person if and when needed.
Duties include:
* Reading information aloud or summarising lengthy information in an electronic Word document.
* Skim reading to identify key content and information.
* Proofreading and formatting written documents, reports and presentations.
* Assisting with accessing and using visually inaccessible websites and documents.
* Assisting with accessible formats of information, for example, converting lengthy PowerPoint presentations into Word format.
* Checking and editing research interview recordings for accuracy and readability.
* Electronic notetaking in meetings.
* Supporting with facilitating workshops, presentations and focus groups.
* Managing any handwritten documents and paperwork, including completing forms and, where necessary, typing up handwritten documents.
* Sighted guiding for in-person meetings and navigating spaces.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working with deaf and visually impaired individuals and have a proactive attitude to providing support. Flexibility to provide support in-person if and when needed is a necessity, as well as having a valid UK Driving Licence.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
This is a part- time role offering between 10-20 hours per week. This specific schedule can be given during the interview stage.
