This is a remote position. Criminal Investigators At Deloitte, we are actively seeking experienced ex-law enforcement investigators to join a growing pool of contract professionals working on complex investigations across the UK. Assignments vary in nature and scope — from fraud and safeguarding to internal misconduct and serious crime — supporting public sector bodies, regulatory agencies, and private clients. This role is ideal for former police or specialist investigators (Economic crime, organised crime, CID, economic crime or safeguarding) who are seeking flexible, impactful work on a consultancy or interim basis. Start Date: Multiple from August onwards End Date: likely 6 month contracts with probable extensions Location: Multiple – Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Leeds, Manchester and remote working. Rate: Dependent on client & opportunity but competitive with market conditions Role Overview: As an Investigator working on a contract basis, you will leverage your criminal investigation skills to support a variety of clients across the UK, from government bodies to private sector organisations, handling cases that demand precision, discretion, and expert knowledge. Responsibilities: Lead, support, review or triage criminal, financial and regulation investigations in line with legal, evidential, and procedural standards. Conduct suspect and witness interviews in accordance with PACE. Collect, assess, and analyse evidence, both digital and physical, to support case progression. Prepare comprehensive investigation reports, evidential files, and disclosure schedules. Collaborate with stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, legal teams, and internal units. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional standards at all times. MUST have Requirements: Ex-law enforcement background (ex police is preferable). Investigation experience in either criminal, financial or regulations. Skills Required: Strong written communication and evidential reporting skills. Comfortable working independently and managing own caseload. Attention to detail and being thorough in investigation prep, analysis & presentation. Good stakeholder management and working to tight timelines.
