Job description
The Materials Laboratory provides specialist services to various departments across Airbus UK, including the Broughton site, as well as to external customers and suppliers. The department carries out a wide range of technical activities, supporting customers in key areas such as mechanical testing, chemical analysis, and metallurgical services.
Responsibilities
* Interface with operational teams and integrate with all support functions
* Gather data through investigations, experiments and literature reviews
* Design and carry out experiments
* Analyse and interpret results of technical work and testing
* Perform statistical analysis of data generated
* Follow general laboratory practices and maintain data integrity
* Research and generate protocols, summary reports, standard operating procedures, and other laboratory documents
* Identify and implement improvements to daily laboratory operations, cycle times, and test methods
Requirements
* Open to undergraduates only for the whole duration of the placement; please inform graduation date on application
* CV and a cover letter outlining motivation and suitability
* Studying towards a degree in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
* Thrives in a challenging environment; adheres to processes; works well in a team
* Laboratory experience and knowledge of analytical methods and instruments preferred
Security clearance
You will be subject to a BPSS check. Depending on the role, UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control may be required.
Benefits
* Salary: £23,400
* 35 hours per week; flexible working hours; onsite working; half-day Fridays
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
