Join a forward-thinking Acute Medicine Therapy Team dedicated to patient care and staff development. We are seeking a positive, proactive clinician with leadership and specialist skills in Acute Medicine to help build a strong future for therapy. You will manage your own clinical caseload, providing advanced specialist assessments and interventions to a wide range of medical patients, including palliative care, neurology, bariatrics, dementia, frailty and multi-pathological conditions. You will support and train team members and students, contribute to service development, and ensure our practice aligns with national guidelines and Evidence Based Practice relevant to Acute Medicine. We work with a broad multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. Our department includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and assistants, with strong links to community colleagues. Core hours are 8:00–16:00 with flexible options; the post includes a seven-day roster.
Responsibilities

* Utilise advanced assessment skills to identify appropriate patients and formulate, implement and evaluate individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
* Demonstrate advanced communication skills to ensure effective multidisciplinary collaboration and positive dialogue with the team and wider colleagues.
* Register for non-clinical duties such as chairing team meetings, contributing to in-service development ideas, and providing training/supervision of students, therapy assistants and junior colleagues, including use of appraisal documentation.
* Lead measurement and evaluation of practice through Evidence Based Practice projects, audits and outcome measures, and make recommendations for change.
* In the absence of a Team Leader, deputise and provide leadership for day-to-day team operations; assist with staffing, absence management and wellbeing support as required.
* Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Acute Medicine Therapy Team Service; prioritise and delegate to the team as required.
* Support Team Leaders in managing staff attendance in line with Trust policies (e.g., return-to-work interviews).
* Promote staff wellbeing and signpost to relevant support networks.
* Collaborate with other James Paget University Hospital therapy teams to receive referrals and prioritise workload.
* Develop team goals with Team Leaders, Professional Leads and the Integrated Therapies Clinical Lead; support the team in achieving them.
* Provide highly specialist advice and teaching to the Acute Medicine Therapy Team and broader MDT.
* Keep abreast of new research and development, identify learning needs, and arrange necessary training.
* Lead in-service development and individual development within the team, implementing changes as appropriate.
* Organise and lead clinical audits, ensuring regular monitoring of service quality and delegate work as needed.
* Commit to a seven-day roster and manage day-to-day operations when needed.
