IT Support Engineer / IT Support Officer (Band 5) – Immediate Start

About the RoleWe are currently recruiting an experienced IT Support Engineer / IT Support Officer to join a busy ICT team supporting a large, mission‑critical organisation across Northern Ireland. This is an immediate start contract opportunity, ideal for someone with strong technical support and infrastructure experience who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.You will provide hands‑on technical support across desktop, server, network, and cloud technologies, supporting a diverse range of users and services critical to frontline operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1st / 2nd / 3rd line IT support across multiple sites
2. Support and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, and Windows Server environments
3. Assist with virtualisation technologies, including Hyper‑V
4. Maintain and support IT infrastructure, hardware, and software systems
5. Log, manage, and resolve incidents using a Help Desk / ITSM system
6. Perform fault diagnosis, root‑cause analysis, and escalation where required
7. Support infrastructure changes, deployments, and IT projects
8. Liaise with third‑party suppliers and vendors when necessary
9. Participate in an on‑call rota
Essential Technical Skills Proven IT Support / Technical Support experience
Active Directory (AD) user and group management
Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) exposure
Hyper‑V or similar virtualisation experience
Windows desktop & server support
Experience using Service Desk / Help Desk systems
Strong customer service andmunication skills
Desirable
10. Infrastructure support experience
11. Networking fundamentals (switches / routers / firewalls)
12. Public sector or large enterprise IT environment experience
