Responsibilities
At NHS 111, you'll handle a wide variety of calls -- no two days are ever the same. This role requires emotional resilience and the ability to manage the pressures that come with supporting people in often stressful or distressing situations. Please think carefully about the demands of this role before applying.
* Support individuals experiencing health concerns and provide appropriate guidance.
* Reassure and assist families and callers in distress, including critical situations (e.g., stroke or heart attack) being calm and effective in response.
* Contribute to a team environment and care for colleagues as part of the wider service.
Important Information
* This is an office-based position at Otterbourne; remote or home working is not available.
* This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
* The fixed full-time rota is available based on current service needs.
* We are welcoming new team members for upcoming training courses in December & January.
Main duties
You do not need a medical background, just a desire to help. You'll need to be detailed and efficient, assertive but compassionate. Looking after yourself and caring for the team around you should also be a priority. We all contribute professionally to the wider team that we operate within here at SCAS. We offer a full 6-week training program including NHS Pathways (the clinical assessment tool we use). After training, you will have the necessary skills to assess patient needs to give the best possible care.

Qualifications and Training
* Essential: Good all-round education (2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience. Open to applicants over 18 for safeguarding reasons.
* Desirable: NHS Pathways Trained; NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and Experience
* Essential: Experience in a customer/patient services environment; experience using computerised systems; experience using a telephone in a work environment.
* Desirable: Experience in a call centre; geographical knowledge of the operational area; experience with rotating shifts; experience in voluntary/health sectors; patient care knowledge; first aid and/or anatomy knowledge.
