We’re looking for a caring, consistent Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis in a welcoming primary school in Downend. This isn’t just about sitting beside a child, it’s about being their safe space, their cheerleader, and the person who helps them feel ready to learn.
The child has SEMH needs alongside an autism diagnosis, so your calm presence and ability to build trust will make all the difference.
What your mornings will look like:
* Supporting learning in the classroom
* Providing quieter, focused support outside of lessons when needed
* Helping the pupil manage emotions and feel secure
* Celebrating the small wins, because they matter
The school itself is a lovely, community-focused setting where kindness, respect and belonging are at the heart of everything. Staff genuinely care, and that shows in the way they support both pupils and each other.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience with SEMH and/or autism
* Brings patience, empathy and consistency
* Can read situations and respond calmly
* Wants to make a real difference, not just fill a role
What’s in it for you:
* £14.30+ per hour, paid weekly via PAYE
* A rewarding, meaningful role where you’ll see your impact daily
* Ongoing support from a consultant who’s got your back
* Free CPD, including SEND training
Not Thrive trained yet? No problem, we can help you get there. It’s a great addition to your skillset and schools really value it.
