The Boeing P-8 Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft is a military aircraft developed by Boeing Defence, based on a modified 737-800ERX design. It is equipped to perform various missions, including submarine protection and reconnaissance. The platform was initially developed for the US Navy, first flown in 2009, and introduced in 2013. In 2019, the UK Ministry of Defence received the first of a fleet of nine P-8A Aircraft.
The Operations Support Specialist (Document Controller) is responsible for supporting the maintenance control team by supervising all aircraft documentation during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and modifications. This role ensures all technical data is up-to-date, manages and audits task cards, and handles both electronic and hard copy records, including updating, archiving, and auditing activities.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the Maintenance Control and Maintenance Execution teams in daily operations.
2. Managing and supervising all maintenance records.
3. Updating and managing GOLDesp.
4. Compiling task cards and digital work orders.
5. Preparing work packs and printing documents.
6. Auditing, updating, and delivering electronic and hard copy records as per the Statement of Work.
7. Ensuring maintenance paperwork is error-free and correctly logged.
8. Archiving maintenance work packs in both paper and electronic formats.
9. Ensuring maintenance teams use the latest approved data and technical information.
Typical Competencies:
1. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical requirements clearly.
2. Experience in managing demanding workloads efficiently, on time and within budget.
3. Ability to understand and interpret technical data.
4. Leadership skills and the ability to apply management techniques effectively.
Preferred Education/Experience:
1. Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
2. Experience in technical records management or document control within a CAMO or maintenance organization.
3. Military or civil aircraft maintenance experience.
4. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent training.
5. Experience with GOLDesp and RAF Form 700 series is beneficial.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to prepare technical reports.
