About the Role
The purpose of the Supervisor role within Connect Plus Services is to support the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant construction and maintenance activities across the network. Acting as a key interface between site teams, contractors, and stakeholders, the Supervisor ensures all works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, site work packs, and relevant health, safety, and quality standards. The role involves managing day-to-day site operations, overseeing permit compliance, coordinating NEC contract requirements, and supporting the Works Manager in delivering projects to program and specification. The position involves overseeing commercial, safety and quality performance of the PP 18 contract, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with subcontractors to ensure the delivery of exemplary work standards. Effective communication and meticulous recordkeeping of completed tasks are essential, facilitating feedback to the Asset team.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
* Health, Safety & Environment: Conduct site safety inspections and lead briefings. Enforce compliance with CPP and EMP. Report incidents, lead investigations, and authorise safe resumption of works. Promote a strong safety culture via DWB reporting and on-site leadership.
* Project Management & Contract Administration: Manage compensation events (<£50k) and support NEC contract processes. Coordinate with QS and PMs on commercial impacts. Review contractor competencies and manage NCRs.
* Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance: Approve RAMS, oversee ITPs, and ensure adherence to design standards. Conduct snagging, material checks, and maintain quality records.
* Planning & Reporting: Submit shift reports via Aconex (labour, plant, progress). Monitor and report on programme delivery. Manage short-term schedules and coordinate meetings.
* Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination: Liaise with Network Rail, TFL, residents, and third parties. Engage with internal innovation platforms and site teams.
* Permit & Traffic Management: Manage permits (confined space, hot works, etc.) and traffic management approvals. Conduct compliance checks and coordinate closures.
* Emergency Response: Act as on-call advisor and first aider. Support temporary works reviews and incident response.
Who we're looking for
Experience and ability to lead and manage effectively site teams. Strong ability to drive continuous improvement and best industry practice within the team.
* CSCS Supervisor or Manager card.
* Valid SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
* Competence in RAMS preparation, quality assurance processes, and temporary works coordination.
* Certified in First Aid and relevant permit issuing (e.g., Hot Works, Confined Space).
* Relevant knowledge of engineering and knowledge of what ‘good looks like’
* Drive and a desire to deliver excellence.
* Experience of the design and construction of highway infrastructure projects
* Good writing, client-facing and communication skills
* Diligent, proactive and thorough approach to detail.
* Collaborative and practical approach to problem solving
* Knowledge of the Design Manual Road and Bridges and Specification for Highway works
