The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

We have an exciting opportunity for an organised, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Procurement Specialist, supporting both Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and Isle of Wight NHS Trust (IWT). Working closely with a range of staff across the organisation and beyond, you will play a significant role the delivery of high quality, value driven procurement across two NHS organisations.
The role will require the successful candidate to deliver Procurement exercises and projects across a variety of categories while providing a highly professional service. Excellent analytical and numerical skills are essential as well as a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
This is an extremely busy and interesting department to work in. You will meet a different challenge every day and you will be an integral part of the team providing a first class procurement service.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead and deliver a range of procurement projects, from digital solutions to clinical services, ensuring best value and compliance with procurement legislation.
* Work closely with stakeholders across both Trusts, building strong relationships and influencing decision‑making at all levels.
* Drive innovation and efficiency by developing new ways to evaluate tenders, contributing to annual savings plans, and identifying new contracting opportunities.
* Support and guide colleagues, sharing expertise, helping develop team capability, and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture.
* Manage your own portfolio of projects, working proactively to manage your own workload, produce accurate documentation, chair meetings where required and ensuring deliverables are met on time.
* Champion sustainability, supporting Trust objectives around carbon reduction and waste minimisation.
* Continuously develop your professional skills, with opportunities to work toward CIPS and gain exposure to a wide range of procurement categories.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Good general standard of education including Mathematics and English Language to NVQ 4 or relevant equivalent.
* Must be prepared to work towards the completion of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPs).
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of a customer service and engagement environment. Evidence of skills that are transferable to the role.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of competitive quotations and tenders.
* Experience of public or major corporation procurement
* Experience of influencing others to lead change.
* Experience of working within the public sector.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Understanding of the principles of procurement.
* Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Proactive with good project management skills.
* Able to work as part of a team. Able to use initiative and work independently.
Desirable criteria
* Understanding and knowledge of UK Government public procurement regulations/legislation (e.g., TUPE, Social Value, Public Contract Regulations, Freedom of Information etc).
