Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Group Customer & Communications community as a Research Executive. Working in the wider Customer Strategy team, you'll be responsible for helping to shape and conduct market research to support Nationwide in understanding our customer needs and behaviours. You'll have a particular focus on the Research Community, an online panel made up of Nationwide customers who regularly take part in market research.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be monthly in Swindon or London. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you'll be doing

You'll work in the Research team within the wider Customer Strategy team which sits in Group Customer & Communications.

As a Research Executive, you'll help to shape and conduct research to support Nationwide in understanding our customers. You will play a particular role in evolving our Research Community, an online community of customers who take part in regular research with Nationwide. You'll also support our broader research agenda as required.

Primarily utilising our Research Community of customers, you'll collaborate with stakeholders and third-party agencies to uncover new insights, while maintaining a customer-centric approach. Day-to-day, this could involve:

* Taking business questions from stakeholders and working them into a research brief for the agency.
* Collaborating with the agency to put together an effective approach and reviewing their work at each stage of the project life cycle.
* Supporting the delivery of market research projects using a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
* Helping to communicate the findings to stakeholders across a range of departments and levels.
* Helping run the day-to-day operations of the Research Community including tasks such as customer engagement, customer feedback, moderation, recruitment, site content creation etc.
* Planning, organising and logging research projects to help us prioritise and schedule resources.
* Reviewing research data, responses and reports and synthesising into clear and concise outputs.

You'll be expected to engage and work closely with the wider research and customer analytics community to share insights, build relationships and push for better customer outcomes.

You'll be joining a community of researchers with a broad range of experience that also includes, Market Research, Strategic Insight, Data and Analytics, and Brand & Propositions Research.

About you

You'll have experience in conducting market research projects from conception through to completion either from agency or client side. You will have a good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. You'll need to be comfortable with and have experience of supporting research projects in previous roles and be confident working with third-party research agencies to deliver impactful and actionable insight.

You'll need to be detail-orientated with excellent project planning, time management and organisation skills to run multiple projects and tasks concurrently.

You'll be passionate about your development as a research professional with the ability to adapt to a range of challenges in a fast-paced environment.

It would be great if you had experience in the following running online research communities or panels, experience of questionnaire design and moderation/facilitation of financial services research or formal training/qualifications in Market Research.

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

* Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers' shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
* Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we're honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
* Push for better - We don't settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
* Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
