Key Account Manager (Accounting Software)

Company Overview


An established UK software vendor specialising in accountancy practice technology is looking to appoint a Key Account Manager to support the continued expansion of its customer base across the accounting sector.


The organisation develops a comprehensive suite of software solutions designed for accounting firms, including tax return production, accounts production, practice management, workflow automation and compliance tools. These solutions enable accounting practices to manage client work more efficiently, automate compliance processes and maintain regulatory accuracy when submitting tax and financial data.


Trusted by thousands of accountancy practices across the UK, the company continues to expand its platform and is looking for a commercially driven Key Account Manager to grow revenue within its existing customer base.


Role Overview


The Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of mid-market accounting firm customers.


The role focuses on developing strategic relationships with partners and decision makers within accounting firms while identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional modules across the company’s software suite, including tax compliance, accounts production, practice management and workflow solutions.


Working closely with Customer Success, Product and Commercial teams, the successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to accounting firms, helping them maximise value from the platform while expanding account revenue.


This role is fully remote within the United Kingdom.


Key Responsibilities


* Manage and grow a portfolio of mid-market accounting firm customers
* Build strong relationships with partners, directors and practice managers within accounting firms
* Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional modules and services across the platform
* Drive expansion revenue through the sale of complementary solutions such as practice management, workflow automation, document management and compliance tools
* Develop strategic account plans to grow revenue across existing customers
* Conduct regular account reviews to ensure strong adoption and long-term customer success
* Collaborate closely with Customer Success teams to ensure high retention and product usage
* Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting within the CRM
* Provide feedback to Product and Leadership teams on customer requirements and market trends
* Represent the organisation professionally when engaging with accounting firms across the UK market


Required Skills and Experience


* Experience in a Key Account Manager, Account Manager or Customer Growth role within a B2B SaaS environment
* Proven experience upselling and cross-selling software solutions into existing customers
* Experience selling technology solutions to accounting firms, tax professionals or accountancy practices
* Strong understanding of the accounting practice software ecosystem, including solutions for tax return production, accounts preparation, practice management, workflow automation or compliance
* Experience managing mid-market accounts and engaging with multiple stakeholders within professional services organisations
* Strong commercial mindset with a track record of growing revenue within existing accounts
* Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
* Highly organised with the ability to manage a portfolio of strategic accounts


Desirable Experience

* Experience selling accounting practice software, tax compliance software or accounts production platforms
* Knowledge of HMRC compliance processes such as Self-Assessment, Corporation Tax or Making Tax Digital workflows
* Experience working with mid-sized accounting firms in the UK
