Are you interested in working within the criminal justice system? Supporting the police in a core role? Do you have the empathy to work with vulnerable people?
We are looking for people who want to make a difference working alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees – supporting them during custody, completing forensic samples, and working with other agencies to support detainees' rehabilitation.
Previous experience in police/security/armed forces would be beneficial, but we will train you through an Initial Training Course, even without prior experience.
You will need to use a computer and various programs competently during your workday.
The role requires flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.
What You Can Earn
Salary of £13,759.20 on a rolling shift pattern
Rotas planned 2 years in advance, averaging 21 hours per week
Referral bonus: £150 for each colleague you successfully refer who joins us
Minimum Requirements
Experience in Police/Security/forces is beneficial
Reasonable level of spoken and written English and basic numeracy
Competent in IT and computer use
Full valid driving license
Right to Work in UK, lived in UK for at least 3 years with a British Passport or ILR, with no gaps out of the country exceeding 3 months
Clean criminal record and successful police vetting checks
About the Role
The custody suites can be energetic and varied. You will support detainees' physical and mental healthcare, escort detainees, observe as per individual plans, and work with colleagues and police to manage risks.
You will work in a small team alongside Police Officers and experienced Senior Custody Detention Officers.
Training
Upon passing selection and vetting, you will complete a 3-week initial training course (ITC) on full pay, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, followed by ongoing development.
