To provide a high-quality, efficient, and effective legal service to the Chief Constable, Chief Officers, and the Force. The role involves minimizing exposure to criticism and legal claims, seeking further legal guidance when necessary.
Responsibilities include engaging and instructing panel solicitors, counsel, and other professionals, monitoring their services, and ensuring cost-effective service delivery that offers quality and value for money.
The solicitor must ensure compliance with legislation such as Health and Safety, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Discrimination laws.
The role also involves providing proactive legal advice on legislative and case law changes, developing policies and procedures, and advising on complex or sensitive cases.
Additional duties include training Force members and partner agencies in legal matters.
This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
