Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for the research, development, clearance, and manufacture of materials and products to meet demanding requirements.
These requirements include physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic properties under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, vibration.
Given the nature of the role, candidates may not have knowledge and experience in all aspects. Successful candidates will attend specialist training courses and conferences, alongside on-the-job training to develop necessary skills and competencies.
Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist
* Developing and monitoring propellant to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
* Improving, driving efficiencies, and standardising manufacturing processes.
* Qualifying propellant and materials according to defence and internal standards.
* Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
* Supporting, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes.
* Qualifying materials for manufacturing.
* Clearing ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
* Manufacturing and testing research materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.
Minimum Requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry.
* Interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
* Significant practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
