Team Leader - Nights
Salary – £32, inclusive of 15% shift allowance
Shift – Nights – Sunday to Thursday – 9.30 pm to 6 am
Location – EMDC Castle Donington
About The Role:
Join Buy It Direct as a Team Leader at our EMDC distribution centre. As part of the delivery team, Driven, this hands-on role involves managing night operations and supporting your team with the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring all loads are correct and secure. You’ll also play a key role in driving high-quality service and operational excellence across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage a fast-paced night operation, ensuring HGVs are unloaded, and stock is safely and accurately loaded onto delivery vans.
2. Drive on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance, ensuring all vehicles are ready for departure for the morning delivery shift.
3. Provide hands-on leadership on the warehouse floor, supporting loading and unloading activities and maintaining high safety standards.
4. Lead, coach, and motivate your team to deliver operational standards.
5. Manage re-deliveries and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
6. Carry out return-to-work assessments and absence reviews.
7. Work closely with HR to ensure compliance, supporting investigations, PDPs, and disciplinary processes.
8. Oversee holidays, staffing levels, inductions, and training.
9. Manage timesheets, liaise with agency partners, and ensure SOPs are followed and kept up to date.
Essential Skills:
10. Proven people management and team leadership skills
11. Experience working in a fast-paced, time-critical warehouse or logistics environment
12. Knowledge of safe loading, unloading, and manual handling practices
13. Ability to manage performance and operational priorities
14. Confident in handling absence management and basic HR processes
15. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
16. Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance
