Student Wellbeing Advisor

(Ref: WCS0001219) Communication Policy Planning Student Services

Grade 5: Salary £33,012 to £37,301 pro rata, per annum, (plus generous staff benefits package)

Hours: 25 hours

Location: Clydebank

The Student Wellbeing Advisor will provide a responsive, efficient and effective positive mental health, wellbeing and safeguarding service to meet the needs of students. The successful candidate will assess the needs of students experiencing difficulties with their mental health and wellbeing. The job plays a vital role in encouraging students' resilience by providing coping mechanisms with wellbeing advice, referral to our counselling service or to external partners. Individual support, group events and curriculum workshops help our students to adopt a positive attitude to physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.


Responsibilities

* Assess the needs of students experiencing mental health and wellbeing difficulties.
* Provide a responsive wellbeing service and safeguarding support.
* Offer wellbeing advice and coping strategies; refer students to the counselling service or external partners as appropriate.
* Provide individual support, organise group events and deliver curriculum workshops related to wellbeing.
* Support students and vulnerable groups with additional needs within an educational setting.
* Travel between campuses if required.


Qualifications and Experience

* Relevant SCQF L7 qualification (e.g. HNC) with current CPD in sector developments.
* Experience providing advice to students about all aspects of student life and beyond.
* Experience supporting individuals and vulnerable groups with additional support needs, including mental health, in an educational setting.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; student-centered, self-motivated and able to travel between campuses if required.
