The Role

Location: Skipton Train station, BD23 1RT
Hours: Average 30 hours
Shifts: Early and late shifts. Early shift starts at 5:10am; late shift finishes at 00:15. Living locally to Skipton would be an advantage.
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Responsibilities
* Offering guidance, information, and a friendly face as a first point of contact for customers.
* Issuing penalty fares to those travelling without the correct method of travel.
* Manage and control electronic ticket gates on the Station (Training provided).
* Help passengers who require extra support, guidance or advice.
* Be a smart, approachable, and proactive presence as a company representative.
* Manage and respond to incidents effectively while remaining calm under pressure.
* Build strong relationships as part of a supportive and professional team.
* Attend court where required to support prosecutions related to travelling without correct payment.
* Ensure gate operations are maintained, and gate line flows are adjusted at peak times.
* Assist customers who encounter difficulties using the gates, using discretion when needed.
* Work as directed by the Station Supervisor or Station Manager.

* Friendly, approachable, and professional in all interactions.
* Keen to learn, grow, and contribute to a positive team culture.
* Experienced in customer-facing roles or willing to develop these skills.
* Punctual, dependable, flexible, and assured.
* Confident in using various devices and systems (training provided).
* High level of honesty and integrity.
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
Previous experience in a customer-facing role is beneficial, but enthusiasm and willingness to learn are equally important. Training and support will be provided. The goal is to become a valued Carlisle team member.
