An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team and help shape the future of our pharmacy services at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals.
As a Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care on the wards. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of medication reconciliation, a vital step in ensuring patients receive the correct medications from the start of their hospital stay. You will also manage Patients’ Own Medication and support efficient one-stop dispensing.
Your role involves streamlining the patient experience, ensuring timely dispensation of To Take Out medications for smooth discharges, and communicating with community healthcare partners to ensure seamless care.
This position focuses on improving patient safety and contributing to a compassionate healthcare service aligned with our Trust values.
We have two posts available:
* Primarily based at St Helier Hospital
* Primarily based at Epsom Hospital
Your primary responsibilities include conducting medicines reconciliation, taking drug histories, managing Patient’s Own medication, and promoting one-stop dispensing. You will assist throughout the patient journey, ensuring TTOs are dispensed before discharge and liaising with community colleagues.
You must be an accredited checking technician (ACPT) with regular checking slots in the dispensary. You will also be involved in ward medicines management, audits, and financial savings projects, working closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and pharmacy team.
This role involves participating in late shifts, bank holidays, and weekend rotas, supporting a seven-day service.
Our group cares for a population of four million across South West London and North East Surrey, including major trauma centres and specialized units at St George’s, St Helier, and Epsom Hospitals.
Occasional cross-site work may be required, including covering for leave and working weekends or bank holidays.
