Unit Bio

Unit secretaries support a wide range of individuals, including patients and medical professionals. The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to multi-task.
P6 (Pavilion 6) is a 21-bed inpatient medical psychiatry unit at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. It has evolved from a traditional psychiatric unit to one serving a medically complex population with an emphasis on Geriatric Psychiatry. All patients have both a major psychiatric illness and a medical comorbidity requiring inpatient care. We welcome applicants from those new to psychiatry to experienced professionals.
Summary
The Nursing Unit Secretary II performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties, with responsibility for involvement in projects and house-wide activities.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
3. Experience: At least three years of secretarial experience, including one year within MaineHealth. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Nursing Unit Secretary I role.
