The role
We are currently recruiting for an Interim Financial Accountant to support a growing business through a key period. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who can quickly get up to speed and take ownership of the finance function while ensuring accurate and timely reporting. This opportunity would suit an experienced contractor or someone available at short notice who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable working independently. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of the month-end process , including production of management accounts and trial balance Prepare monthly financial reporting including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow Maintain and reconcile the general ledger , ensuring accuracy of all financial data Post journals including accruals, prepayments and adjustments Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities Prepare and submit VAT returns and support wider compliance requirements Ensure compliance with statutory and HMRC regulations , including PAYE/NIC Liaise with external accountants and auditors during reporting cycles Manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers Identify and implement process improvements where required About You Proven experience in an Interim Financial Accountant / Senior Accountant role Able to start at short notice and add value quickly Confident working in a standalone or small-team environment Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and financial reporting Excellent attention to detail with a hands-on approach Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships across the business Desirable Professional qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or part-qualified Experience within a fast-paced or SME environment Exposure to ERP systems such as Business Central / Navision Contract Details Interim assignment (initial 3-6 months, with potential extension) Immediate or short-notice start preferred Competitive day rate Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
