About the Role
As a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support to access the curriculum and engage positively in school life. You’ll collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions, adapt learning materials, and provide consistent encouragement throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting children with special educational needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with specific learning or developmental needs.
* Implement tailored strategies to promote engagement, confidence, and progress.
* Support social interaction and emotional regulation within the classroom and playground.
* Assist with academic activities, adapting materials where required.
* Liaise with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate effectively with the wider team.
* Offer personal care support if needed, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Qualifications
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs is desirable.
* A relevant teaching assistant qualification (Level 2/3) is advantageous but not essential.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and empathetic approach.
* Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and outside professionals.
* A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
