We are seeking talented and detail-oriented Control Systems Engineers to join our engineering team.
This role focuses on designing and developing bespoke automation software that meets customer requirements while adhering to industry standards. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with creativity to deliver solutions that enhance our reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lifecycle: Understand an automation project lifecycle from concept to completion.
2. Application Development: Design and test control software applications for PLCs and HMIs for various requirements.
3. Test and Commission: Conduct functional testing of all software applications created and oversee safe on-site installation and commissioning.
4. Technical Documentation: Produce and maintain high-quality technical design documentation, such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), internal and site testing records, and user manuals.
5. Customer Collaboration: Work closely with clients to interpret requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback.
6. Standards: Ensure designs meet relevant regulatory and safety standards and maintain consistency throughout the design and development process.
7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth project delivery.
Skills and Experience
1. Design Experience: Understanding of designing/interpreting FDS and translating into automation software requirements.
2. PLC Programming Experience: Experience in programming Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs is essential. Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and Mitsubishi hardware is advantageous.
3. HMI Programming Experience: Experience in programming Rockwell HMIs is essential. Experience with other brands is a plus.
4. Network Experience: Knowledge of setting up automation TCP/IP networks is essential.
5. SCADA Experience: Knowledge of SCADA applications is advantageous.
6. On-Site Testing & Commissioning: Experience in real-time electrical and control system commissioning at client locations.
7. Domain: Knowledge of wet processes and FMCG sectors like water processing and food & beverage manufacturing is beneficial.
8. Knowledge Base: Familiarity with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols is required.
9. I.T. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ERP experience is a plus.
Specific Qualifications
1. Driving Licence: Full, clean UK driving licence required for site visits.
2. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges.
3. Qualifications: Degree, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related fields.
